The 1966 World Cup Final

We’ll start with the words of the great man himself:

The inspirational Kenneth Wolstenholme.

When I woke up on Friday morning having slept on a decision that isn’t made yet, I read the #brexit result and the first thought that came into my mind was, “it is now”.

Looking at this from a Pythonesque Word Association Football perspective I’m going to keep it diplomatic and lie about it. It was Euro 2016 (which I’ve not been following, btw, so don’t expect any tweets on it) that associated.

Nothing at all to do with all those “Union of 27” Germans that are currently perving my profile.

The 1966 World Cup Final

This page gives the backstory behind my timeline being subsequently peppered with tweets ending in the phrase, “The 1966 World Cup Final”.

It is a writer’s exercise. To rephrase Wolstenholme’s immortal words adding dramatic effect while retaining the imagary of the original and ending with the phrase “the 1966 World Cup Final” in less than 140 characters.
